Swanage Carnival 2017 gives away over £25,000 to Charities and Good Causes

The 2017 Swanage Carnival & Regatta celebrated another successful year by giving away a staggering £25,600 to 25 chosen charities and organisations. The total sum of money was announced at the committee’s presentation night last October.

2017’s Carnival was affected by some extreme weather conditions, but despite gale force winds and torrential rain tens of thousands of revellers flocked to the town for what is now one of the biggest events of its kind on the south coast.

Carnival Chairman Becky Mack said “Carnival week 2017 was very challenging due to the extreme weather which put the committee and friends of carnival under a lot of pressure to change things, having to weather proof our venues, reschedule events and respond to enquiries regarding the various event changes. However this only served to bring everyone together and bolster our enthusiasm to make the week better than ever, I cannot thank everyone enough”

Applications to be considered to become a carnvial charity should be sent to the secretary by the end of March

Hopefully, 2018 will be even bigger and better and we look forward to once again putting on a week of fun and entertainment for everyone.
