Thoughts on 2009
Despite misgivings from everyone on changing the course in 2009, it proved to be
successful and, although harder, we had a lot of positive feedback from the
runners taking part.
Getting a one way traffic system in place worked very well,
making it almost traffic free, plus having ten marshals along that short stretch
plus an additional water stop, has alleviated the concerns we had in previous
years.
Again we had a good turnout and we would like to congratulate
Capt.
Stoddart of the 11th Signals Regiment for finishing first in a time of 1:17:15.
We have taken the decision to take the Half Marathon away from our main Carnival
Week, we will now be holding it annually in mid July, this is now a big event
needing a lot of manpower on the day, and we feel that it now needs to have a
date of its own to be able to give it our full attention.
We do apologise to
those runners who used to come for the Run and for the Carnival events that
followed; we hope that perhaps you might decide to come to both!!
We look
forward to seeing all our past competitors and those that have not taken part
before, in 2010.
