Hoping that by changing the date of the show would give riders and horses a cooler
day in which to compete, just didn’t happen!!
A cloudless blue sky with a brilliant
sun made it as hot as ever but it didn’t deter the large amount of competitors that
came to take part in all classes with enthusiasm.

Yet again we saw excellently turned
out horses and ponies, the standard was as good as you can get and it really is
wonderful to see everyone enjoying what they were doing, little children, some as
young as three, on lead rein ponies and looking so proud! Gutsy kids who will attempt
the show jumping is a sight to behold and, we had plenty of those, they certainly
kept the spectators spellbound.
Congratulations to Kathy Laurence for winning the
overall show jumping Challenge Cup, a long standing supporter of this Show, it was
nice to see her win it.
We have to thank Ben Bowerman for the use of his land; it
certainly gave us plenty of room and made it easier to segregate the horses from
the general public, part of our health and safety regulations which we have to abide
by.
It has been suggested that in 2007, a table top tack sale could be held whilst
the show is on; this would work very well in a field of this size.
Last but certainly
not last, we have to thank Olive and Alan Redout who for the last 15 years or so,
have been letting us use their land on which to hold the show, we know that this
isn’t always convenient when you are a farmer, but they have always obliged without
complaint, and by doing so, have contributed many thousands of pounds to charity.
Thanks to all of you who came and took part and hopefully we will see you all again
in 2007, in the meantime, look at the photo’s and see if you can find yourself on
one of them.
