Swanage Regatta & Carnival Presentation Evening

One hundred and fifty people attended the Presentation Evening held by the Swanage
Regatta & Carnival at the Swanage Bay View Complex, when the twenty five recipients
of this year’s selected charities/good causes received their cheques amounting,
in total, to £25,000.00.

The Chairman’s charity, Careline was awarded £2,000.00.
£2000.00 was also given to the Somerset & Dorset Air Ambulance, Dorset Freewheelers
EVS, Guiding in Swanage, The Heart Foundation and Help for Heroes. Further amounts
ranging from £1000.00 to £400.00 went to the rest of the chosen charities.

In his welcoming speech, the Chairman, Darren Strong thanked the traders and other
organisations for their support in making the 2009 event a success.
He made special
mention of Clr. Steve Poultney for his help and advice and for liaising so

successfully
between the Town Council and the committee.
Special mention was also made to Sgt.
Des Connor for the continuing help given by him and his officers for the help and
support given by them throughout carnival week.

After the Presentation a cabaret with Tom Canning as Tom Jones was enjoyed by all.
